We will also work with customers to provide special payment options to meet special needs. How to Read Your BillYour bill is designed to provide the information you need to know about your account. Payment OptionsIn New Jersey, we offer several easy ways to pay your bill: Pay by MailFor all other customers with an account number beginning with 18, mail your check to: New Jersey American Water Overnight payments should be mailed to: Mellon Bank For customers with an account number beginning with 52, 53, 54 and 55, mail your check to: New Jersey American Water Overnight payments should be mailed to: Mellon Bank To avoid processing delays, include the pre-addressed payment stub, write your account number and address on your check or money order, use the envelope provided and do not send paper clips, staples or cash. Pay Automatically – No stamps requiredSave time and money. Sign up for our Automatic Payment Program, and your bill will be paid on time, every time, directly from your checking or savings account on the date it is due. No stamps required. You will still receive a copy of your bill before the due date, so you will have time to ask any questions before payment. Best of all, it’s totally free! To enroll in the program, simply complete enrollment form and mail or fax it back to us. Please note: This payment option is not offered to customers in Avalon. Pay by Phone or OnlineIf you do not have questions about your bill, you can pay by phone using your Visa, MasterCard, debit card (if it has a Visa or MasterCard logo on it), or e-check by calling 1-866-271-5522 or visiting www.water.paymybill.com. There is a $2.25 fee per transaction for these services. Be sure to have your 10-digit account number handy. This is located on the upper right corner of your current bill. Pay in PersonNew Jersey American Water has agreements with numerous businesses across the state where you can pay your bill in person. These locations include supermarkets and drug stores. Please note, this list changes periodically. Customers are encouraged to call the location first, to ensure they still accept payments for New Jersey American Water. Unfortunately, there are many people and families who risk losing water service because they can’t pay their water bills. For customers who have fallen on difficult financial times, New Jersey American Water’s H2O Help to Others Program™ and Low Income Payment Programs are offered to provide assistance for customers who qualify.
